About the Massage Therapist
Emily Miye Onoshi, LMT has been in private practice in the city of Cupertino since 2007. Her specialization includes working with clients that have a need for therapeutic massage such as those who have physical disabilities, athletes (sport massage), pregnant women (prenatal/perinatal massage), and busy Silicon Valley techies (corporate massage). Many of her physically disabled clients have had Strokes, ALS, Cerebral Palsy, Bells Palsy, and other neurological damages. She is a big advocate on stretching and will often incorporate stretching into the massage therapy sessions. Being an athlete herself, she does have a tendency to attract other athletes as clients who want a massage therapist that can relate to or understand the physical demands of an athlete.
More Mobility Massage was started in hopes of helping people achieve better mobility, though it can sometimes be interpreted by people that Emily’s services are also available mobile at hospitals, rehabilitation centers and retirement homes for better access to those who may have more difficulty reaching her office. Her interest in massage therapy sparked initially from the seihou sessions that occasionally happened in the martial art Shorinji Kempo thatshe has been practicing since age nine. Kyushou points in Shorinji Kempo are ironically used to inflict temporary pain. But like with trigger point therapy there are many points on the human body that can be used for therapeutic purposes. And with prenatal/perinatal massage, it is also important to be mindful of being aware of certain points on the body that could trigger early labor while also providing options for women who would prefer an alternativeto induced labor via drugs. Emily’s competence and confidence in her areas of expertise has continued to help her clients feel at ease —- and relaxed.
